Firmware Update v1.9 (USB Mic OMBRA / VEKTA)

DRAFT: The following instructions are to update the firmware to the version v1.9, published on Auguts 4th 2026.  This is our latest version with these changes in respect to previous published versions:

  • Solved issues with buzzing/cracking/whistling sounds
  • Side tone volume is adjusted to the incremented mic volume gain
  • PS4/5 mode implemented. Hold hidden button for 3 seconds to switch the mode for PS4/5. To solve the low audio input limitation.

  • (v1.8b): Reduce of postprocessing sounds

Version v1.6, published March 2026, already had the following improvements:

  • Higher microphone gain. To solve cases in which the mic volume is too low.

Version v1.5, published January 2026, already had the following improvements:

  • Fixed PC microphone connectivity issues and device reboots related to Windows USB power management

Version v1.4, published December 2025, already had the following improvements:

  • Side tone ON/OFF option clicking on reset button (hidden button, see step 1 below)

Version v1.3, published November 2025, already had the following improvements:

  • Better sound quality and filtering
  • Noise suppression algorithms to better remove breathing sounds
  • Side tone (voice monitoring) to hear your own voice

Which firmware version do I have?

Are you unsure which version you have? Just contact us.

  • VEKTA masks shipped starting End of April 2026 have the v1.8b version.
  • VEKTA masks shipped January-March 2026 have version v1.5 installed.
  • VEKTA masks shipped November-December 2025 had the v1.3 version installed.
  • VEKTA masks shipped starting End of January 2026 have the v1.5 version.

 

  • OMBRA USB Mics have a version v1.2 installed and will benefit to update to v1.5. If microphone volume is too low, v1.6 is recommended.

Requisites

To update the firmware you need the following:

  • Computer with Windows/MacOS/Linux operating system
  • Chrome or Microsoft Edge as browser
  • Access to Github servers not blocked (problem only in some countries)
  • VEKTA Soundproof Mask / OMBRA USB Mic

 

1 - Trova il pulsante nascosto sotto l’etichetta

In questa posizione nelle etichette (per il microfono USB e per la maschera VEKTA) c'è un foro attraverso il quale il pulsante può essere premuto. Per favore, individualo:

2 - Tieni premuto il pulsante mentre colleghi il cavo USB al PC

Premi il pulsante con un ago o uno spillo molto sottile e tienilo premuto mentre colleghi il cavo usb al computer. È importante che il pulsante resti premuto mentre colleghi il cavo. Non importa se è collegato tramite USB-A o USB-C.

(Facoltativo: per verificare che questa procedura sia andata a buon fine, la maschera ora non dovrebbe essere riconosciuta come dispositivo headset e dovrebbe comparire come dispositivo COM nel gestore dispositivi).

3 - Aggiorna il firmware con lo script ESP

Premi il pulsante qui sotto ("Aggiorna firmware). È necessario usare Chrome o Edge su desktop.

Se non vedi un dispositivo USB JTAG nell’elenco, scollega la maschera e riprova il passaggio precedente: premi il pulsante mentre colleghi il cavo USB della maschera al PC.

La finestra pop-up elencherà i vari dispositivi collegati.

Scegli il dispositivo USB JTAG.

Use Chrome or Edge on Windows. This only works on HTTPS or localhost.

4 - Fai clic su Installa VEKTA-Lite v1.9

5 - Scegli "Cancella dispositivo" e fai clic su "Avanti"

6 - Fai clic su "Installa"

7 - Attendi il completamento dell'installazione

8 - Una volta completata l'installazione, fai clic su "Avanti"

9 - Controlla che tutto funzioni correttamente

Ora puoi scollegare e ricollegare la maschera (senza tenere premuto il pulsante flash) e testare come funziona.
