Firmware Update v1.9 (USB Mic OMBRA / VEKTA)

DRAFT: The following instructions are to update the firmware to the version v1.9, published on Auguts 4th 2026.  This is our latest version with these changes in respect to previous published versions:

  • Solved issues with buzzing/cracking/whistling sounds
  • Side tone volume is adjusted to the incremented mic volume gain
  • PS4/5 mode implemented. Hold hidden button for 3 seconds to switch the mode for PS4/5. To solve the low audio input limitation.

  • (v1.8b): Reduce of postprocessing sounds

Version v1.6, published March 2026, already had the following improvements:

  • Higher microphone gain. To solve cases in which the mic volume is too low.

Version v1.5, published January 2026, already had the following improvements:

  • Fixed PC microphone connectivity issues and device reboots related to Windows USB power management

Version v1.4, published December 2025, already had the following improvements:

  • Side tone ON/OFF option clicking on reset button (hidden button, see step 1 below)

Version v1.3, published November 2025, already had the following improvements:

  • Better sound quality and filtering
  • Noise suppression algorithms to better remove breathing sounds
  • Side tone (voice monitoring) to hear your own voice

Which firmware version do I have?

Are you unsure which version you have? Just contact us.

  • VEKTA masks shipped starting End of April 2026 have the v1.8b version.
  • VEKTA masks shipped January-March 2026 have version v1.5 installed.
  • VEKTA masks shipped November-December 2025 had the v1.3 version installed.
  • VEKTA masks shipped starting End of January 2026 have the v1.5 version.

 

  • OMBRA USB Mics have a version v1.2 installed and will benefit to update to v1.5. If microphone volume is too low, v1.6 is recommended.

Requisites

To update the firmware you need the following:

  • Computer with Windows/MacOS/Linux operating system
  • Chrome or Microsoft Edge as browser
  • Access to Github servers not blocked (problem only in some countries)
  • VEKTA Soundproof Mask / OMBRA USB Mic

 

1 - Vind de verborgen knop onder het label

Op deze positie in de labels (voor de usb-microfoon en voor het VEKTA-masker) zit een gat waardoor de knop kan worden ingedrukt. Lokaliseer het:

2 - Houd de knop ingedrukt terwijl je de USB-kabel op de pc aansluit

Druk de knop in met een naald of een heel dun pinnetje en houd hem ingedrukt terwijl je de usb-kabel op de computer aansluit. Het is belangrijk dat de knop ingedrukt blijft terwijl je de kabel aansluit. Het maakt niet uit of hij via USB-A of USB-C is aangesloten.

(Optioneel: om te controleren of dit proces goed heeft gewerkt, zou het masker nu niet meer als headsetapparaat herkend moeten worden en als COM-apparaat in Apparaatbeheer moeten verschijnen).

3 - Werk de firmware bij met ESP-script

Druk op de knop hieronder ("Firmware bijwerken). Chrome of Edge op desktop zijn vereist.

Als je geen USB JTAG-apparaat in de lijst ziet, koppel dan het masker los en probeer de vorige stap opnieuw: druk op de knop terwijl je de usb-kabel van het masker op de pc aansluit.

In het pop-upvenster worden meerdere verbonden apparaten weergegeven.

Kies USB JTAG-apparaat.

Use Chrome or Edge on Windows. This only works on HTTPS or localhost.

4 - Klik op installeren VEKTA-Lite v1.9

5 - Kies 'Apparaat wissen' en klik op 'Volgende'

6 - Klik op 'Installeren'

7 - Wacht tot de installatie is voltooid

8 - Nadat de installatie is voltooid, klik op "Volgende"

9 - Controleer of alles goed werkt

Nu kun je het masker loskoppelen en opnieuw verbinden (zonder de flashknop ingedrukt te houden), en testen hoe het werkt.
