Firmware Update v1.9 (USB Mic OMBRA / VEKTA)

DRAFT: The following instructions are to update the firmware to the version v1.9, published on Auguts 4th 2026.  This is our latest version with these changes in respect to previous published versions:

  • Solved issues with buzzing/cracking/whistling sounds
  • Side tone volume is adjusted to the incremented mic volume gain
  • PS4/5 mode implemented. Hold hidden button for 3 seconds to switch the mode for PS4/5. To solve the low audio input limitation.

  • (v1.8b): Reduce of postprocessing sounds

Version v1.6, published March 2026, already had the following improvements:

  • Higher microphone gain. To solve cases in which the mic volume is too low.

Version v1.5, published January 2026, already had the following improvements:

  • Fixed PC microphone connectivity issues and device reboots related to Windows USB power management

Version v1.4, published December 2025, already had the following improvements:

  • Side tone ON/OFF option clicking on reset button (hidden button, see step 1 below)

Version v1.3, published November 2025, already had the following improvements:

  • Better sound quality and filtering
  • Noise suppression algorithms to better remove breathing sounds
  • Side tone (voice monitoring) to hear your own voice

Which firmware version do I have?

Are you unsure which version you have? Just contact us.

  • VEKTA masks shipped starting End of April 2026 have the v1.8b version.
  • VEKTA masks shipped January-March 2026 have version v1.5 installed.
  • VEKTA masks shipped November-December 2025 had the v1.3 version installed.
  • VEKTA masks shipped starting End of January 2026 have the v1.5 version.

 

  • OMBRA USB Mics have a version v1.2 installed and will benefit to update to v1.5. If microphone volume is too low, v1.6 is recommended.

Requisites

To update the firmware you need the following:

  • Computer with Windows/MacOS/Linux operating system
  • Chrome or Microsoft Edge as browser
  • Access to Github servers not blocked (problem only in some countries)
  • VEKTA Soundproof Mask / OMBRA USB Mic

 

1 - Encuentra el botón oculto debajo de la etiqueta

En esta posición de las etiquetas (para el micrófono USB y para la máscara VEKTA) hay un orificio por el que se puede presionar el botón. Por favor, ubícalo:

2 - Pulsa el botón mientras conectas el cable USB a la PC

Presiona el botón con una aguja o un alfiler muy fino y mantenlo presionado mientras conectas el cable usb al ordenador. Es importante que el botón esté presionado y se mantenga así mientras conectas el cable. No importa si está conectado por USB-A o USB-C.

(Opcional: para comprobar que este proceso ha funcionado correctamente, la máscara ya no debería reconocerse como un dispositivo de auriculares y debería aparecer como un dispositivo COM en el administrador de dispositivos).

3 - Actualiza el firmware con el script ESP

Pulsa el botón de abajo ("Actualizar firmware). Se requiere Chrome o Edge en escritorio.

Si no ves un dispositivo USB JTAG en la lista, desconecta la máscara y vuelve a intentar el paso anterior: pulsar el botón mientras conectas el cable USB de la máscara al PC.

La ventana emergente mostrará varios dispositivos conectados.

Elige el dispositivo USB JTAG.

Use Chrome or Edge on Windows. This only works on HTTPS or localhost.

4 - Haz clic para instalar VEKTA-Lite v1.9

5 - Elige "Borrar dispositivo" y haz clic en "Siguiente"

6 - Haz clic en "Instalar"

7 - Espera a que se complete la instalación

8 - Una vez completada la instalación, haz clic en "Siguiente"

9 - Comprueba que todo esté funcionando correctamente

Ahora puedes desconectar y volver a conectar la máscara (sin mantener presionado el botón de flash) y probar cómo funciona.
